Prison Outreach..Corporal Work of Mercy...now is time!

i wrote a note to someone in prison.  So often we think of those in prison are so different than ourselves.  We forget that we make mistakes every single day.  The only difference is those in prison have been caught.  i thought i might share some of the article with you in the hope that all of us will start to reach out to those in prison, in trouble and lift that stigma that we, the "normal" population are in some way better than they are.  Jesus, in His Final Description of His Second Coming and Judgment uses very simple words to explain what matters in Matthew 25:31-36
31 “When the Son of Man comes in His Glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit upon His Glorious Throne,32 and all the nations will be assembled before Him. And He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.33He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.34Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father. Inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.35For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me drink, a stranger and you welcomed Me,36naked and you clothed Me, ill and you cared for Me, in prison and you visited Me.’"

And so i wrote:

i am so sorry to know of you sufferings and pain during this time in your life.  i wanted to write to you to just let you know you are loved.  i remember everything you did for my son and i every morning.  You are the kindest of men and we, although not in touch alot, have a deep love for your kindness and smile during those early years.

i wanted to remind you regardless of what others have said, we all make mistakes....all of us...and sadly some get caught in their sin and suffer on top of offending God, making a wrong choice and hurting themselves, a type of public humiliation, but the fact remains....we all "fall short" on a daily basis.  This is Scriptural.  So don't let others drown you with their should have...comments.  My suggestion to all of us....get to a good confession and put it all behind you.  Every day is a new beginning....The Gospel says, "There are New Mercies every morning"...."As far as the east is from the west will I put your transgressions"...."Though your sins be as scarlet, I will make them whiter than snow!"

i do not know if letters will help you or annoy you.  So i am sending one.  In the envelope is a self addressed stamped envelope with a paper inside in case you would like to write back.  If you want to receive letters from me, let me know and if not i will totally understand and respect your wishes.  Know that either way i will continue to pray for you and support you during this most difficult time.  If there is any way i can send you books or magazines or good food :) or help you in any way while away, please do not hesitate to ask me.  No one needs to know if and how i help you ....i will keep all this confidential...

i have a blog site since Nov.  and i thought i would send you, starting from the beginning, all my blogs if you were interested.   Again you can let me know....who knows maybe you also have computer access.  If you do, let me know your email and i can write to your email site, if not, we can use snail mail if you are comfortable with that.  Below is my first blog....(i then sent a copy of the first blog from November 2016)

Please be assured of my prayers for you and all your family and all those where you are.  Remember, as long as there is breath and life...there is opportunity for U-turns....Our God makes great Main Course Meals with us who are left-overs.  Stay strong....Stay hopeful....Stay very close to God!  All my love and hugs,  angie

The Corporal Works of Mercy in the Catholic Church are:

  • To feed the hungry.
  • To give water to the thirsty.
  • To clothe the naked.
  • To shelter the homeless.
  • To visit the sick.
  • To visit the imprisoned, or ransom the captive.
  • To bury the dead.

Let's find ways to reach those in prison....and sometimes they are not in a physical penitentiary....people can be imprisoned in many ways...especially let's give our prayers....here are some sites to check out and learn more about these works that will help reflect the Love of Christ to our very lost world!  til next time....let's read all of Matthew 25....it is jam packed with great 'stuff'....THERE IS LOTS OF GOD'S WORK TO BE DONE....LET'S ALL START TO DO MORE...ang
